Music Monday...

New Jersey native, Jessie Baylin. I heard this song a while ago and just thought it was so sweet and simple. Posting video is not my favorite thing. It's best when the music is able to create images in the listener's mind. Jessie just moves to the music in a way that's soothing to watch.

Music Monday...

After a long day at work, an even longer day doing homework, dinner, round two of homework, some snuggle time and a quick shower. I'm finally here. This song has been stuck in my head all day. Mr. Ray LaMontagne, is my brother from another mother. This song instantly reminded me of my Dylan Nesta. He is simply the best thing... the best dude... the sweetest stinker. Check out upcoming tour dates in L.A., I know I'm not missing this guy.

Music Monday

Lykke Li.
That name caught my attention way back in 2009, as I was reading the 2009 Coachella line-up. The first song I listened to was a remix by Kleerup of her track, Until We Bleed. After the wide spread love of the indie dream pop, love song Little Bit, Lykke Li was a common name. Back in the LittleMissEarworm days, Lykke Li was a common musician I would post about. I posted about her once here. She would perform live obn the streets back in the day. with just a small group of people, a few instruments and a lot of talent.
It's been five years since I've seen her perform live and tomorrow will mark the return of this magic to my ears. I'm excited to see how she's grown as an artist and as a women. Posts from the show to follow!
Enjoy...

Exploration

I can't remember the last time I went out, free of kids, free of expectations or even free from a date. I like to think of myself as the ultimate Virgo. "Virgos, more than any other sign, were born to serve, and it gives them great joy... Some might even go as far as calling them self-centered, but it's really more of a desire to surround themselves with what's right -- for them." Added to the fact that I fully enjoy doing things on my own, (sometimes).
Once I was over the guilt of having some "me time", I was able to just enjoy the day. Balboa is a comfort place for me. As a kid my family would head out in the summer off of, A Street. The day started with perfect weather, tasty food at the Crab Cooker, a quick fresh coconut water, toes in the sand, $1 ferry ride across the harbor, then ended with a short walk to live music and good beers. This, was just what I needed.
Some "me time" is needed for not only mother's but I truly feel like all people need to find the simple things that keep them grounded to the simple pleasures. I'm guilty of getting too involved with the outer aspects of life, all very important things. With work, the household, a school year, all of the after-school activities and making time for friendships. All in which are important aspects. But, who are we when we are alone? I used to have a strong sense of self but lately I've lost it. Can anyone relate?
So here's my, "Get Back In Touch With Your, Me Time", speech:
Get out, do it, find it, search for it, get lost in it, close your eyes and see with your heart, be a kid again and remember where this place is because you'll always want to come back to it. Balboa, Ca

Music Monday...

To say, it's been a while is an understatement. It's been too long and I'm not proud.
Life, work, reality, new-age motherhood and love is all a balance, a balance that I'm still trying to ride out.
I've been inspired to ride this wave again, it's always crazy to me where inspiration comes from. The key for me has always been, not looking for it.

Throughout these long months I've written down some special tunes I've come across, traveled to amazing destinations and have collected some beautiful images along the way. But that's another day. Music Monday, first. Lindsey Buckingham's Big Love has been an all time favorite of mine, so when I came across this remix, I just about feel in love. It's the perfect summer song. CFCF a.k.a Michael Silver, is an Canadian based one man duo (if you will). CFCF's Continent, came out back in 2009, but it fits perfectly with the sounds of a 2014 summer. Similar to artist like, Poolside (on the Pacific Festival 2014 lineup), and Real Estate (also, on the FYF 2014 lineup). I hope I see more of CFCF around!
So, here's to 2014 summer sounds and blogging!

-Cheers

Life...

The open road, the path of greatness It's at your fingers Go be the one that keeps on fighting Go be the stranger Just put your foot in front the other Crow like a rooster Be all in all, together something Fear is a danger I say Spill on the streets of stars Ride away Find out what you are Face to face The windows are the perfect picture They're always changing Go on, get lost, jump in the waters When they are raging I say Spill out on the streets of stars Ride away Find out what you are Face to face Once you've had enough Carry on Don't forget to love Before you're gone

Music Monday

New Real Estate!!! What's up with 2014 bringing out new music from all of my favorite bands...? These Jersey boy's have been on the scene since 2009. I would love to see this group live and now with this new record, I guess I will finally get my chance!
Horizon is a new track from Atlas, It's Real, from 2011's Self-Titled album.

Music Monday

Okay, so technically, Monday was a holiday, so ya, err. I have to keep up with this. Good thing is, the music I'm sharing is Tennis! This little duo comes out of Denver. Tennis' 2012 Young and Old, album was the first I heard of Tennis, (I blogged about them on littlemissearworm), I later found out that the talented Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) produced that album! Now the duo has a new EP Small Sounds, I can't wait for new music by this sweet husband and wife duo.
Dream Pop, Surf Pop, Indie Pop and I'm in LOVE!

Music Monday

Local Natives, are literally "local natives" from Los Angeles they first came onto the music scene as Cavil at Rest (love the name change).
Their 2013 album Hummingbird, sounds a lot like a copy cat version of Fleet Foxes / The Shins / a little Animal Collective. All the same, I still love this song, Wide Eyes. Other than Sun Hands and Breakers, I can't really get into the album Hummingbirds. <3

Music Monday

Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl are The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger. I have loved this eccentric duo since 2008! After listening to Sean Lennon's 2006's Friendly Fire album for pretty much a solid year, I needed more Sean Lennon in my life. I stumbled upon an image on his Facebook page, (or was it Myspace, then) with this girl who looked... eclectic, artistic not to mention beautiful and thought... what is this? What I loved so much about the pair was they played numerous instruments, while signing. They did this at their live shows too! The duo has grown into a quin. Remastering songs, adding new little sounds and pretty much creating some of the best dreamy folk I have heard. It's like space walking through a garden. <3

Music Monday... Thursday

So, with the Coachella Lineup out a few weeks back, I couldn't help but notice some of the familiar artist on the lineup and feel a little pride in the music I have posted on my blogs, mainly Littlemissearworm, (still gets me to know someone hacked into my blog but if it wasn't good then it wouldn't have been noticed). Of course I love seeing these talented bands make it to the festival. Bands like HAIM, Blood Oragne, Poolside, Aeroplane, Washed Out and of course L.A. based Warpaint!!! I do love great girl rock bands and Warpaint is a true talent group of musical genius. I first blogged about them maybe two or three years ago with the song "Elephants" and I think maybe "Bees"...? Both great songs! But with the self titled 2014 album release and a spot at Coachella, I was pretty excited for these ladies.
If your going to Coachella Warpaint is a must see !

Northern California

As a California native I'm pretty embarrassed to say, that I have never been farther up the coast then, San Luis Obispo. So, a road trip up the coast was not only exciting but it was unknowing for me, an uncharted territory. My expectations were high but I soon came to realize the beauty of it is, unimaginable. From Cambria's, "Pine's by the Sea"  to Big Sur's almost time capsule of rustic logging and cool hidden eateries to San Siemon's natural simple beauty to the hidden thriving Monterey Bay's Cannery Row to the views, the views of coastal majesty, it was all... magic.
"Unmapped", would be the word to use for our getaway. Sometimes those are the best trips to be on (sometimes), and this trip was one of them. With no real plans, the coast was ours! Stumbling along trails, capturing that one last picture for the 10th time, hanging out with fellow travelers made for the best memories.
I soon discovered that I truly belong to Northern California. The mix of my love for the woods combined with a full serving of ocean shoreline, arriving back home was bitter sweet. My dinky camera phone does not give justice the aesthetics of the coast line. The first of many great adventurers to come...

Music Monday

Dream pop and trip-hop and chill wave, oh my!
Washed Out is exactly that! A good friend brought this band to my attention a few weeks back and I'm just giving them a listen (sorry). I get a Poolside/ Real Estate/ Friendly Fires feel that I just love, the airy pop and easy breezy sounds of Washed Out makes then a top favorite of mine. 2013's  Paracosm is Washed Out's second album.  The opening Entrance track (perfectly titled) sold me within 10 seconds, I was in love quickly. The self titled track Paracosm is another great tune, just close your eyes and let it take you away.
Thank you Sub Pop Records for yet another great artist!

Words of Wisdom

"When you start putting pen to paper, you see a side of your personal truth that doesn’t otherwise reveal itself in conversation or thought." -Anthony Kiedis

Music Monday... Wed.

Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol is the founding father of Tired Pony, with the taste of Country in his mouth the band came out with a little more American Folk sound for Tired Pony. (thankfully).
The Ghost of the Mountain is the band's second album, back in August of 2013. I get the feel of Fall, not so much Summer but that's just me. First track I heard was "All Things At Once", beautiful song but once I heard "The Ghost of the Mountain", I was hooked. The guitar, the airy heart broken vocals, the angelic background vocals, the hidden piano keys, the lyrics:
"...If I'm ready for the next world then...I'm ready for the deepest earth... If there's a magic in the after...it'll never beat the sight of you..."
 <3
Enjoy!
