Music Monday

I've loved José González for years now. Apparently Mr. González is on the soundtrack to the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". I haven't seen the movie, never cared too, until now!
This is my "Jump into 2014" song!

Another Christmas

Another successful Christmas has come and gone.  We had a small taste of chilly winter weather but mainly it was just another sunny day in CA.We celebrated with new family member's, enough tamales for weeks of leftovers, a Christmas toast, to the up and coming 2014 weddings and new found Lego obsessions.
As Dylan left cookies for Santa, reminded me to cut up carrots for the reindeer and to, "leave Santa with regular milk, mom!", I had a proud moment... I have kept this tradition and magic alive. I'm afraid this might be the last year of magic. I will have to create new traditions, maybe I'll try the "Pickle in the Tree" one. Until then I will forever treasure the home footage of this past Christmas morning magic.
Wrapping paper all packed up, lights taken down and the Christmas tree that was center stage is now sitting outside waiting for it's final destination. It's on to getting back into he groove of the daily life without that Christmas sparkle.
Blessing and love.

Music Monday

I'm taking it back to the 20's!
Musical genius Klaus Waldeck's  2007, Ballroom Stories  is a time warp into the 1920's. I heard maybe 20 seconds of this song and I immediately had to find the source! "Why Did We Fire the Gun" is a cool, trip hop, lounge sound with vocals by Valerie Sajdik.
Enjoy.

Music Monday

I'm feeling this track!! I know it's extremely repetitive but I don't think songs like these are supposed to be played all the way through, there meant to be mixed. But, hey, we can still enjoy them as a solo track.

Music Monday... Tuesday

I have been busy as a bee with moving, errands, niece duty and trying to get over this cold. Err... again, I have missed a posting. With all my excuses aside, I can only blame me.
I Googled littlemissearworm, just to see if I could find anything, and I did! I had signed up to a group called Bloglovin and low and behold, I found a few old post! Mostly older cover songs that I have loved forever! Cover songs are tough for me, either you cover them perfect and exactly the way the original was or you completely remix the track into a new style and sound. But which ever you do (artist) do it right! So here are a few covers which I feel the artist got it right!

Taken By Tree's cover of Animal Collective's "My Boys", Cibo Mato's cover of Nirvana's "About a Girl", Iron and Wine's cover of The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights", Lykke Li's cover of Kings of Leon's "Knocked Up"

Music Monday

This cover was on my Littlemissearworm blog, and I just love this some much I have to share it again. Maybe it's the rainy weather, maybe it's the fall, maybe it's timing. I found Chris Sly on good ole' youtube.com. Hope you enjoy this!

Zen Trip to Encinitas

One of my favorite places in Southern California to visit is the Self-Realization Fellowship Temple, in Encinitas CA. The Swami Garden is my sanctuary of zen, peace and calmness. Finding a bit of clarity is one of the most helpful things a person could do for themselves. My personal life has taken me through different paths, mostly ridged and winding but I am persisted and I trust my heart will not steer me wrong.

Music Monday : Au Revoir Simone

New Music from the trio Au Revoir Simone... oh yes! New York based all girl, all keyboard, all awesomeness group formed back in 2003. The first track I heard was, Fallen Snow, from the girl's, 2007  album, The Bird of Music. It played over and over, until I realized the album had more great tunes! Loved it! Then time went on and I saw them pop up in T.V. shows and featured vocals for other artist ( Friendly Fires-Pairs, amazing). With the September release of, Move in Spectrums, I feel as if the music lovers of this time will appreciated the talent of these girls. If catchy sing a long is your preference, the track, More Than, would be worth a listen. I do believe the world in now ready for Au Revoir Simone!
Dream pop it up! Good luck ladies!

Music Monday!

Late posting, yes, I need to balance everything and this is one I need to make more time for. Lemon Jelly has been a long time love of mine, the track, "I wanna stay with you", is an all time favorite. The British duo formed back in 1998. "His Majesty King Raam", from the 2000 Lemonjelly.ky is just the perfect song for where I'm at in my life. I hope you like it too. No one with the love and kindness, strength and courage of King Raam.

Music Monday

Maybe I should have been born in a different time? Or, maybe I just have a broad taste for music?
I really enjoy all music (good music), newer artist, older artist and vintage artist.  I hope with sharing music I can inspire readers to dig deep for new tracks from smaller indie artist as well as recall a vintage song they recently heard which brings them back to that time or place. Neil Young's Harvest Moon, was on my mind today, a nice surprise. It doesn't hold a place deep in my heart for a specific place or time or person, it  simply gives me the filling that maybe something bigger is out there, bigger then I thought. It's always made me fill that way.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Goodbye sweet summer. This summer has been a memorable one but it is nice to say a final farewell. Life has a funny way of moving things around for you to get a better view of who you really are, who you will become.
From the sandy beach birthday, to the play dates with my niece, to our fun Sea World trip, to just packing a light dinner and heading out to Concerts in the Park, to turning 30, all the memories we made were good ones. I'm ready for this changing season. Bring on the pumpkin everything, the hot chai lattes and the snuggly blankets.

Music Monday (Thursday... but hey)

New Zero 7 and the Fall season approaching, this is the remedy I needed. This B-Side track feels like a mix of dance/chill-out/ background music on a rainy day. It's a different sound from the past albums the group has put out. Does anyone else feel the need to break out some Fleetwood Mac at the beginning? Or is that just me? Zero 7 has been a long love of mine. They brought us Ms. Sia Fuller aka the vocals on that track with David Guetta and Flo Rida. Alone this girl is super talented! She is the vocals on Zero 7's famous track, Destiny. Cheers to the Fall!!

Music Mondays

I just recently discovered Disclosure a few days ago. The electronic brother duo is new to the scene, they performed at Coachella 2013. Their dancy electronic tracks will be a hit on the dance floors, for sure, or just great background music for a fiesta! But with most house/electronic/dance tracks, it can get a bit repetitive. What's refreshing about the brothers is they have featured vocalist appear on the tracks, which happen to be amazing. Here is two tracks that I can't get out of my head.

Music Monday

Milosh was going to be the tune for the day but as I got to reading about the Canadian, I found out that he is Mike Milosh... as in Mike Milosh from Ryhe! I came across the track "Open" from Ryhe and feel in love, fast. So it's no wonder why I loved the first 4 seconds of "You Make Me Feel", Sat. night, hanging out with a fellow music explorer. I love experimental/ ambient/electronic! So here's the two tunes for the day: Milosh, "You Make Me Feel", and Ryhe, "The Fall".

Day Trip: Lake Perris

Let's just call this, the "Pre-Game Day for Parker". These boys are to true "Boy's of Summer",  I just hope I can keep up with them.
Quick simple sandwiches to go, loads of sunblock applied then reapplied, extra waters all around and the weather on our side, makes for a good day.  Even the sky gave us a kiss goodbye. With the sun rays shinning over us felt almost like a heavenly scene, saying, "enjoy these precious times".
I have the best childhood memories at the river and lake. I always think of the hot nights with so many stars in the sky, wondering, do I make a wish on all the shooting stars... or just the first one I see? Now, watching the boys make memories of there own, I wonder what will they remember from these summer days?
On to next weekends adventures... Parker, AZ. here comes the boy's of summer!

Music Monday!

Franz Ferdinand : Fresh Strawberries

Scottish native band Franz Ferdinand's first single, "Take Me Out" hit the charts back in 2004 placing them in the ears of  indie-rock lovers from the UK to the US. But what true music hunters really knew was, yes, the single was a hit but Franz Ferdinand's  entire 2004 self-titled album, "boldly bangs on the door to stardom" as Brent DiCrescenzo of pitchfork.com once said.

With their new album, Rights Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, the band has the same sound that original fans love. With the track, "Fresh Strawberries", the same building guitars and Alex Kapranos' famous voice, it's an almost comforting sound. No longer the new hipster band but for my fellow original indie-rockers, it's lovely to hear some new tracks from this band.

Birthday Boy

A birthday party at the beach, plus a beautiful sunny day,  followed by a bonfire dinner equals sweet memories.
The name Dylan, means Son of the Sea. He truly lived up to his name. My young man turned 8 over the weekend. With family and close friends we all enjoyed a day in Huntington Beach, CA.
We watched dolphins swim up and down the coastline. The kids took on the ocean waves, only to learn that the ocean is stronger then they thought. The ladies kicked backed, enjoyed the sunshine and some laughs. And when the sun finally said it's goodbye we all stopped to enjoy a good ole' flash mob dance off (three times). Classic hot dogs and s'mores around the bonfire. With a very loud, very excited Happy Birthday song to end the night.
The only regret I have is I only have these few pictures to show for such a great time, but I think that's how it usually works.
